Data Engineer Our client is a Top 5 UK Pet insurer with a clear vision to be the premier Pet healthcare and insurance services partner in the UK. They are currently seeking a Data Engineer to assist in the expansion of their business. They are a fully integrated European pet insurance and health services platform that was established as a joint venture with the goal of becoming the world's leading pet insurance and health services platform. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Assist with the deployment of a Machine Learning platform Monitor and optimise platform performance Create and manage data pipelines and data storage (including unstructured and semi-structured data). Support Data Scientists' access to data in particular. Furthermore: Be a good teammate. Capable of motivating and leading technically Assist with engineering resource recruitment Enjoy working with a variety of unique teams Competence and Experience: Knowledge of EDW and Big Data storage, processing, and pipeline management (Azure technologies) Knowledge of data modelling, proficiency, and experience in data architecture Strong Python, SQL, and Scala coding skills, as well as knowledge of software development best practises. Strong expertise in scriptwriting Ideally also familiarity with NoSQL (e.g. MongoDB) Stream processing versus batch processing Excellent knowledge of microservices architecture Application infrastructure: container, Docker, and Kubernetes expertise Experience with Machine Learning platform, preferably with Azure technologies, and exposure to/experience with Domino is preferred. Experience with or interest in Machine Learning and certain commonly used tools, such as NumPy, Pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, and XGBoost. Education Academic requirements: BSc in a quantitative discipline, with a preference for MSc in Data Engineering or Computer Science. Professional credentials can be advantageous: Data Engineer, Big Data in particular.
